| Bluegill |

These fish are very common in the lakes and streams of Illinois. Bluegill are olive green in color and have a orangeish belly. They have dark spots which appear on the outside portion of the dorsal fin. Bluegill will mostly eat anything that is natural bait(worm, hotdog, leach), these fish do not respond well to artificial bait. |

| Northern Pike |

A Northern pike is long with a duckbill shaped mouth and lots of needle sharp teeth. The dorsal fin is soft and located near the tail. These fish also have numerous white or yellow-green spots on the sides of the body which are arranged in oblique rows. These fish respond mainly to live bait such as large minnows or large worms. |

Chubs are very common in the Kankakee River. These fish have a dorsal fin with fewer than 11 soft rays. They also have black spots on anterior base of dorsal fin. Breeding males are colored pink, orange, red, green and blue. These fish bite to mostly live bait such as worms. |
